Alessandro Michele Debuts at Valentino
Alessandro Michele’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, ‘Vertigineaux,’ marked his first haute couture debut for Maison Valentino. The collection brought together a representation of history, fairy tales, and art, drawing inspiration from Italian philosopher Umberto Eco’s “The Infinity of Lists”.
Michele’s collection was presented at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, France. The title ‘Vertigineaux’—meaning ‘dizzying’ in French— reflected greatly throughout the show. The show captured Michele’s depiction of the past and present, as red LED words projected behind models as they walked along a darkened catwalk. These words displayed historical and philosophical references, guiding the audience through each garment’s significance.
The collection featured 48 looks, the opening look alone reportedly taking 1300 hours to create, setting the tone for the rest of the show. Unveiled was a dramatic gown featuring ruffles and an 18th-century inspired bodice. Models wore eccentric glasses and masks embellished with gems, from which jewels hung.
The final dance was one full of chaos and color, a theatrical performance leaving a lasting impression on the audience. Elton John, Nick Cave, Carla Bruni, Demna, Alba Rohrwacher, and Giancarlo Giammetti were among few of the notable attendees sitting front row.
