A unique exhibition displays photographs of women taken over 4 generations of Italian photographers. The exhibition is called “A Century of Women: Tommasoli’s photographs 1906-2022” and will be opening on International Women’s Day (March 8, 2023) at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in New York and will run until May 15, 2023.

On display will be more than 50 photographs that use the Italian artistic tradition of women portrayed as icons, symbols, and subjects. From glass plate to digital photography to video art, on display will be portraits, nudes, and experiments. There are three main focuses within the exhibition: out of the image, the ages of women, and time sign movement.

The Tommasoli photographic archive portrays women’s metamorphosis spanning over the century in daily life and on the public stage. The studio was founded in Verona in 1906 by Silvio Tommasoli but has kept the ability to carry on both the activities of professional photography and artistic research with unmatched quality.
