Accord Reached Between La Scuola d’Italia Marconi and University for Foreigners of Perugia

March 20th, 2014 is a memorable day for Italian cultural history in New York with the signing of a “Memorandum of Understanding” between La Scuola d’Italia Guglielmo Marconi and the University for Foreigners of Perugia (UFP), which takes La Scuola as its model. In the coming months, the Upper East Side Scuola d’Italia, a true advocate of Italian culture at a global level,  will now organize and carry out accredited courses of the Italian language for adults under the umbrella of the UFP.

“This accord marks an important advance for both institutions and for the promotion of the Italian language in New York. La Scuola is the ideal point of reference for the University and vice versa. …  We are very interested, satisfied and happy because of this important step, not only for the School and the University but for the teaching of Italian language and culture in general,” said Stefano Acunto, Chairman of the IAF and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of La Scuola d’Italia.

Beginning in spring, students will now have the opportunity to complete their circle of education which began at La Scuola d’Italia and will continue to university level. Having always advocated the importance of cultural exchange between Italy and America, Professor Roberto Dolci commented, “I always believed that the school should do more, even though we have done a lot. The school should be a reference point for the Italian community in America as well as for the Italians who wish to come to the United States.”

Rector of UFP John Paciullo stated, “We are witnessing an important cultural initiative of our university.” He further reflected on the fundamental importance that promoting “Made in Italy” is for the University, which is known as an “ambassador of Italy in the world.”
