“Godless” film by IAF award winner launches on streaming
The IAF is pleased to present GODLESS, a new film by longtime IAF collaborator and award winner, Michael Ricigliano. The film treats a delicate subject that has long challenged leaders: the tension between church, state, personal life, and broader questions of moral and ethical impact. GODLESS follows the story of Governor Angela Porra as she wrestles with her faith and political duties after facing excommunication for signing a progressive bill into law.
This compelling tale presents a balanced exploration of themes of morality, politics, faith, and ambition. “Godless came to me as an exploration of the intersection between faith and politics, a theme that feels particularly urgent in today’s climate. This film isn’t about making judgments; it’s about presenting the raw complexities of such a conflict and allowing the audience to reflect on their own views. In a time when the lines between personal and public morality are increasingly scrutinized, I felt it was the perfect moment to tell this story.” — Filmmaker Michael Ricigliano.

Critics have described GODLESS as thoughtful, cerebral, tight, crisp, and totally worth seeing. “I hope viewers come away with a better understanding of other points of view as it relates to a politician’s obligations to their faith as well as their constituents,” said Ricigliano about the film.
The film stars Ana Ortiz (playing Governor Angela Porra) and Harry Lennix (playing Bishop Reginald Rowland). GODLESS premiered in select theaters in November 2024, and it is now available for streaming on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, and Fandango at Home.
