The Caravaggio Sindrome Book Premieres in the US
Receiving praise from New York Times bestselling authors and award-winning journalists for his newest novel, Italian author Alessandro Giordano features in two book presentations in New York and Montreal, discussing his latest and first published novel: The Caravaggio Syndrome.
Published in English by Rutgers University Press, Giordano’s novel presents in New York on April 22nd at NYU’s Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò from 6:30pm until 7:30pm. Journalist Annalisa Merelli moderates the event, which is set to be hybrid available in Casa Italiana’s YouTube, Facebook, and website.
Afterwards, the Italian author travels to Canada to celebrate the international book launch of his novel at the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal. Led by author Christopher Di Raddo, this in-person presentation takes place on May 10, 2024, from 5:30pm until 6:30pm.
Mixing historical, queer, and speculative fiction, Giordano’s novel tells the story of a love triangle between an art-historian, her student, and a computer technician who are transported to 17th century Naples after reading the works of utopian philosopher Tommaso Campanella. Thus, the characters embark on a journey of self-discovery in search of a new life.
Giordano currently teaches world languages alongside culture and media at Saint Lawrence University in New York. Born in Naples, he studied at the University of Bologna, UC Berkeley, and McGill University. In addition to his new book, Giordano has also written about Caravaggio’s cultural circles as well as Italian and French Literature.
