Beginning Saturday April 23rd to November 27th 2022, the Venice Biennale will open its doors under the creative direction of Cecilia Alemani. The exhibition will take place in the Central Pavilion and the Arsenale, including 213 artists from over 58 countries. Over 1400 works and objects will be on display, under the exhibition title Milk of Dreams

2022’s Biennale also marks the first exhibition that will be conducted under a female director. Cecilia Alemani was inspired by the Leonora Carrington book Milk of Dreams, which portrays a world where “life is constantly re-envisioned through the prism of imagination.” As a guiding question, Alemani asks “how is the definition of human changing?” The Venice Biennale had previously planned for this exhibition to be released this past year, but was delayed due to the pandemic. President Roberto Cicutto and Creative Director Cecilia Alemani look forward to opening their doors this weekend on April 23rd, marking the beginning of an exhibition that will introduce new artists from around the world, educating thousands of students and peers alike.
