The St. Francis Day Foundation
Pope Francis’ encyclical’s focus, “Human Ecology” is finally being put into action, thanks to the St. Francis Day Foundation. The new non profit organization, chaired by insurance leader Mr. Steve Menzies, aims to serve mankind through a series of mandates.
Mr. Menzies, who sat down with the Pope to discuss the Foundation and its goals, has dedicated funding from his own foundation, the Steve Menzies Foundation.
One of the first goals of the Foundation is to have a program dedicated to technology and spiritual health, ensuring that the Pope’s focus, “human ecology”, is on its way to being developed. The Pope’s efforts mirror those of his predecessors, who used the Christian religion and principles to improve and help society.
Mr. Menzies comments on the intersection between insurance and the St. Francis Day Foundation: “As responsible insurance executives whose Companies pride themselves on having a ‘good soul’ at the center of our commerce, we have identified ‘human ecology’ as a useful, broad outline of the real environment and society in which our policyholders and our staff work each day. Insuring does not exist in a void nor in a pure financial sphere: risk is heightened when social instability and socially acceptable behavior are compromised.”
The first regional centers of the Foundation will be in Rome, and will later expand to include a center on each continent, to allow a diverse set of world leaders to be on The Foundation’s Board.
