For the first time in history, the consulate of Italy in the Michigan metropolis has announced its participation in “Detroit Month of Design” alongside the Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan with its cultural initiative “Love IT Detroit”.

Led by Consul Allegra Baistrocchi, Love IT Detroit is a “festival dedicated to Italian creativity”. Throughout the month of September, the festival will consist of the works of some of the most influential Italian and Detroit leaders of industry. The unique experience is focused on innovation and design, therefore with Detroit being the only UNESCO designed city in the United States, it only made sense to Consul Baistrocchi to choose it as the host city.

She explains that “you can find anything cultural at any time: from large street graffiti to the Detroit Institute of Art; you can find great jazz cafes and underground rap battles or go to the Detroit Opera House or listen to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.” It is with this rich culture that the Consulate has decided to participate in the Detroit Design Month.

With the exhibition taking place at one of the most prestigious locations in the city center, it is also making its mark in the Metaverse. The two events are occurring parallel to each other, with the virtual space available to guests 24/7 across the globe. It is also important to note that this is the first time a government body is hosting an event in such a format.

“Design will become the Consulate’s means of weaving a network between Italy and America in highly experiential, collaborative, multidimensional, multisensory, and passion-fueled ways. For the love of Italy, for the love of Detroit and for the love of design, ” commented Consul Baistrocchi.
