Breaking Ground: USA Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015

From May 1st to October 31st, 2015, Milan, Italy will host the first worlds fair with the theme of food: “Feeding the Planet, Energy. for Life.” On July 16th via live streaming press conference from Washington, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced the myriad of partners who will be sponsoring the constructions of the USA pavilion. Current partners include Uvet, DuPont, illy, SageGlass, 3M, McKinsey & Company and FleishmanHillard, and will be joined by the newest sponsor: GE.

The Expo Milano 2015 will be the worlds largest platform for fostering dialogue, cultivating ideas, and showcasing innovations in food, sustainability, science, industry, economics, entrepreneurship and other elements between countries. Over 140 countries are expected to join forces next year at the Expo. The United States will be at the forefront of leadership and innovation in advancing food security and is placing a great deal of value in their involvement in this renowned expo. The US Ambassador to Italy, John Phillips, joined members of the Italian government, Expo 2015 officials, as well as other partners at a groundbreaking ceremony for the USA Pavilion.

The pavilion plans to feature a fully functioning vertical farm, that will showcase America’s unique role in the future of food around the world with the theme “American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet.” The programs and events held in this state-of-the-art structure will range from interactive exhibits and tastings to topical salons, regional food trucks and an innovation accelerator.

Tens of millions of visitors are expected at the Expo next year, and the United States’ Pavilion will undoubtedly impress. Every country in attendance will play the part of ambassador as they all showcase their ideas and innovations is one of the world’s largest stages. For more information about the USA Pavilion, please visit their website.
