Italian Language Week 2016 focuses on Fashion

“The Italian and Creativity: Fashion and Design” is the theme of the 2016 Italian Language Week in the World (from October 17-23), organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. In the opening conference held at the Italian Cultural Institute, luminaries from the world of Italian fashion spoke connected the worlds of design and language.

Enrica Ponzellini, Editor, Vogue Sposa, and Max Botticelli, Fashion Photographer, in dialogue with Alison Miller, Creative Director, Monvieve, spoke at the opening of the fashion exhibit Italian Fashion Couture Bridal Tradition and the Power of the Veil, on display until October 24, 2016 at the Institute of Italian Culture in Washington.

The veil of the bride is arguably one of the most important accessories in a woman’s life. It has a long history: in the ancient times, people believed that the veil was designed to protect the bride from evil.  A single element, known for its elegance and symbolism, the veil represents a fascinating look into the world of Italian design and couture manufacturing.
