Italy-United States Forum to strengthen international scientific community

Last Friday, an Italy-US scientific forum took place at Stanford University, representing a strategic move between the two countries to strengthen international discussion about innovation in scientific and technological fields. The conference was the first of its kind to be organized by Italy in the US, and featured a round-table discussion between Silicon Valley executives, members of Italy’s Hi-Tech center, scholars and students.

Divided into three panels including “Big Data & Machine Learning in Life Sciences, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence,” “Advanced Manufacturing & Industry 4.0, Mobility & Smart Cities” and “Space Industry, Science & Technology,” researchers and business executives illustrated their visions for the future of technological innovation and discussed its impact on the global economy.

The event was part of Italian president Sergio Mattarella’s official visit to the United States.

In a press release, the Italian Embassy said, “the Forum will represent an opportunity to encourage collaborations between researchers and leaders in advanced technological, industrial and scientific fields, and [will] further our understanding of academic research.”

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Trade Agency and in collaboration with the School of Material Science and Engineering and Medicine at Stanford University.

Results of the discussion will be released in a report given by Minister of Technological Innovation and Digitization Paola Pisano and other panelists
