VentureOutNY and the Italian Business and Investment Initiative (IB&II) are hosting their fourth VentureOutItaly Program, a week-long Spring Symposium where Italian entrepreneurs can advance their start-ups May 3 -8, 2015. In addition to connecting with venture capitalists, technology companies and industry experts, participants can learn about the US market and business arena. There are several workshops on sales, marketing and strategy.

At 6pm on May 6, the program hosts Italian technology showcase Tech Renaissance to display Italian companies in the industry to the New York area and potential investors. This pitch night affords companies the opportunity to present their ideas and receive feedback and contact information for future collaborations.

This year’s keynote speaker is Alberto Pepe, a co-founder of Authorea, a word processor that allows simultaneous editing by several contributing scientists. Pepe is an alumnus of the VentureOutItaly program, where he found several investors for Authorea’s seed round. Pepe is a physicist seeking to reinvent the way the world approaches scientific publications within the open science movement. One of the company’s first investors was former VentureOutNY keynote speaker and co-founder of Vedanta Capital Alessandro Piol.

VentureOutNY strives to connect international startups to the wealth of opportunities in the New York City technology community. The Italian Business & Investment Initiative seeks to encourage Italian businesses and advance the economy by investing in potential growth industries, including the technology sector. The Consulate General of New York is one of the partners for this event.
