The acclaimed pianist has drawn international audiences for decades and is also well known for his successful ventures into cinema, boasting a 2002 Echo Klassik award in Germany for the soundtrack to Fuiori del Mondo and the Italian Best Film Score award for Luce dei miei occhi. In the last 15 years alone, his scores have brought to life films in America, Italy, England and France, including six original tracks featured in Intouchables, the biggest box office movie in French history.

Einaudi’s beloved work is characterized by a combination of classical forms, pop, rock, world music, and folk music. His current effort, 2013’s A Time Lapse, was well-received by critics worldwide. The album was recorded over a two year period in a remote monastery near Verona, and is described as “the representation of the bringing together all of life’s experience and emotions into a single moment of time.” On the day the album was released, 19th of January 2013, Einaudi famously performed the new pieces from his balcony in Milan to the crowd gathered below. The new record has been called both emotional and experimental, a departure from his other works in its epic tone. Last year, Einaudi performed songs from A Time Lapse with a new band at the ITunes music festival in London.

Explaining his inspiration for A Time Lapse, album for which his current international tour is named, Einaudi said, it is only when we become aware that our time is limited that we can channel our energy into truly living.” Audiences are responding well to his energetic conceptualization of this notion, as his New York Show sold out impressively, forcing Einaudi to add performances to his tour to in order to meet popular demand.
