This fall the Minneapolis Institute of Art brings a new exhibition about Sandro Botticelli and his relationship to the Renaissance era in Florence.

Set to take place from October 16, 2022, to January 8, 2023, the exhibition will display not only works of Botticelli, but also of artists who were active during his time. All brought together to “demonstrate the operational methods and rich figurative fabric of those decades”. This unique spectacle has been curated by Cecilia Frosinini and Rachel McGarry, as a result of a collaboration between the Uffizi Galleries and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. A reference to the fact that the exhibition comes at a time where several international collaborations were halted or put on pause due to the COVID pandemic.

The president of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Katie Luber explains that “the opportunity to bring wonderful works of art from the Uffizi to Minneapolis is nothing short of amazing…what better time than this fall to examine Botticelli and the Florentine Renaissance, as we seek the rebirth of culture, art and connection.”

The Italian Ambassador to the United States also expresses that it is “an important new page in the history of the exceptional cultural collaboration between Italy and the United States.” Botticelli and Renaissance Florence is the most complete exhibition about the artist ever set up in the US. Therefore, the American public will have the unique opportunity to dive deeper into the relationship between Sandro Botticell and Florentine Renaissance.
