Remembering Former Italian President Giorgio Napolitano

Former President of Italy Giorgio Napolitano passed away peacefully in Rome at the age of 98 last Friday, September 22, 2023. He was the 11th president of the Italian Republic. Born in Naples, Napolitano was a prominent figure in Italian politics affiliated with the center-left Democratic Party. Napolitano led an accomplished life as a politician, holding various positions within the Italian political system.

Napolitano served in Parliament for 38 years as Minister of the Interior and President of the Chamber of Deputies. Napolitano was considered an intellectual who wrote numerous books on political theory, discussing communism and the social demographic movement in Italy. Remembered for his dedication to democratic ideology and efforts to maintain political equilibrium, Napolitano promoted stability during times of crisis. Giorgio Napolitano and the legacy of his extensive triumphs will live on through his wife, Clio, and two sons, Giulio and Giovanni.
