Limited-edition coin commemorates the legacy of Italo Calvino

The finance ministry of Italy released a commemorative coin to honor the 100th birthday anniversary of Italo Calvino. Born on October 15th of 1923, Calvino was an Italian novelist and short story writer, widely regarded as one of the most prominent literary figures of the 20th century. Nine thousand limited-edition silver coins with a nominal value of 5 euro were released to the public on October 6th to honor the legacy of Calvino. 

Calvino’s literary works were often composed of philosophical themes incorporating elements of postmodernism. Some of his most notable works include Cosmicomics 1965 and Invisible Cities 1972. Calvino was known for his innovative storytelling techniques that depicted themes of existentialism and the nature of reality. His ability to explore complex ideas while maintaining a captivating narrative style contributed to his legacy and successful career.
