Sustainable Representation at Milan Fashion Week

Since 1958, Milan has welcomed a selection of haute couture designers to display carefully thought-out collections for Fashion Week. During this semi-annual event, a wide range of prêt-à-porter garments is showcased to the public. Playful silhouettes and distinctive color schemes forecast trends expected for the spring and summer seasons. With a wide range of established fashion houses from Dolce & Gabbana to Diesel, the event features an array of 62 runway shows. Each show illustrates a different element of timeless or avant-garde creation.

Milan Fashion Week was established by the CNMI (Camera Nazionale Della Moda Italia) in the late 1950s. The organization continues to devote time to developing the Italian Fashion Industry. Most recently, the CNMI developed a concept to promote sustainability in a collaborative effort with the EFI (United Nations Ethical Fashion Initiative). The CNMI and EFI launched the Sustainable Fashion Awards as a collective, which returns for the sixth edition this fall. The Sustainable Fashion Awards aim to commemorate designers who value human rights and environmental justice within the world of fashion. The ceremony is held in Milan at the Teatro alla Scala on September 24th, wrapping up Milan Fashion Week SS 2024.
